Meet Doug — an artist, husband, father and custom builder
After more than a decade in commercial woodworking and display design, Doug has been crafting bespoke pieces that challenge and personally inspire his creativity. From professional cabinetry, to lawn game pieces, (like the Belgian Rolle Bolle pieces pictured above), no task is too small or too large.
In 2006 Doug completed his degree in custom cabinetry at Hennepin Technical College and started on the shop floor producing commercial furniture for Foldcraft Co.. In 2008 Doug moved to Process Displays (now “Pd”) and quickly rose through the ranks from production line, production manager, and shop floor manager. By 2011 he was Pd’s client liaison for Apple Inc., traveling frequently from Minnesota to Cupertino, CA to help design and build displays for everything from the latest iPhone and tablets to (eventually) the new Apple Watches. He was promoted to Project Manager before he moved to Fluid Interiors in 2022. After a year working office buildings in the Twin Cities, Doug knew his passion was really back crafting custom pieces, so he set out with his wife, Heather, to create an in-home woodworking shop worthy of his dreams.
In August 2024 demolition and reconstruction began of their “garage” to be officially reopened in July 2025 as their new Hanson Woodworking LLC headquarters!
Doug lives by the Nick Offerman mantra “As an artist you want to be able to explore facets of yourself.”
